Ogun State 2015: PDP Woos Dimeji,…Begins Consultation

Peoples Democratic Party leaders in Ogun Central Senatorial district at a meeting held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has unanimously endorsed the candidature of the former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
The former Speaker, who was also present at the meeting, asked for more unity of purpose among party leaders and members, saying that the unity of the party was sacrosanct.
Bankole, after the meeting, avoided speaking to the media on the purported endorsement.
The meeting which many see as an indication that the race to the top position come 2015 in Ogun State, South West Nigeria may have begun in earnest was followed with consultations across the nooks and crannies of the state.
Yesterday, Rt. Hon Dimeji Bankole was in Ilaro to meet who is who even outside PDP and politics. Information has it that he had paid similar visits to some notables political figures in Ogun East soliciting for their support.
Bankole was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002, on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to represent the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency of Ogun State. He was re-elected in April 2007.
