Ogun Speaker Highlights Importance Of Electing Democrats

Good governance can only be achieved if the people continue to support leaders who cherish and hold democratic values and ideas in high esteem.

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi gave the charge while fielding questions from journalists at his Isokan 1 State Constituency, Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area. Rt. Hon Adekunbi explained that when a democrat rules, the standard and quality of lives of the people would be greatly improved.

According to him, the massive infrastructural development and other masses-oriented programmes on- going in the State were borne of the quality leadership style of the State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, whom he described as a lawmaker and a vision-driven democrat.

“Who might have thought that a six-lane road would pass through Ayetoro within a short time, and that is the nature of magnitude of infrastructure that is on-going in all parts of the State,” the Speaker noted. He encouraged the people to continue supporting government in advancing socio-economic development of the State for the benefit of the entire citizenry, assuring that more democratic dividends would still be delivered to the people.

In the same vein, the Speaker has challenged the youth to take advantage of free and qualitative education programme of the State government to equip themselves in order to compete favourably with their peers in other parts of the world.

He gave the charge in Ayetoro while speaking at the 2014 edition of Yewa Day celebration. Rt. Hon Adekumbi advised that the youth needed to equip themselves in order to meet up with the emerging global challenges and take their rightful place in the affairs of the nation, emphasizing that no nation developed without proper and qualitative education for its teaming youths.

Describing the event as a rallying point for all Yewa sons and daughters with a view to charting the cause of more development of the area, he enjoined them to continue to support government in its development agenda to the people.
