OGUN POLICE LECTURE VIGILANTE GROUPS IN SOUTH WEST
The Ogun State Police Vommand has partnered with the Vigilante Groups in South Western part of the country in having a successful 4 day training workshop at NYSC Orientation Camp,Sagamu Ogun State on Friday.
The training workshop,which runs between 9th September and 13th September,2015,attracted vigilante group members in all the states of the south western part of the country.
Many resource persons,mostly police officers, on Thursday 10th September, spoke on various topics including,traffic control,IED identification,prevention of scenes of crime before arrival of the police,duties and operational jurisdiction of Vigilante gruops,general patrol duties etc.
The Police Public Relations Officer Ogun State DSP Muyiwa Adejobi,who, on Friday 11th September, delivered two lectures on duties and operational jurisdiction of the Vigilante Groups of Nigeria and method of developing strong partnership with the police and other security agency, made it know that no vigilante group can operate without the authority and support from the police.
In the same venue, the Department of State Service, represented by its Public Relations Officer Mr James Egesi, spoke on surveillance and other security techniques needed for effectiveness and efficiency.
The police laid emphasis on the need for partnership and tutelage from the police on operational activities and sustainability of the VGN. It was reiterated that all members of the VGN in the country are expected to be documented with the Divisional Police Headquarters in their locality,and work within the police operational framework as directed by the Inspector General of Police.
The Police PRO Ogun state Muyiwa Adejobi extended the Commissioner’s of Police felicitation and assurances of the commands support for the Vigilante Services of Ogun State towards effective policing of Ogun state.
