Ogun Police Foiled Robbery Operation: Arrested One

A team of Ogun State Police Command has foiled a robbery operation carried out by a 3-man syndicate at Imowe area of Ijebu-Ode on the 4th of January, 2017.

2.The robbers armed with gun and cutlasses blocked the road, stopped motorist and started dispossessing them of their belongings when Policemen attached to Awa Ijebu received the information, the D.P.O CSP Sunday Oladipupo led the team of anti robbery team to the scene. On sighting the Policemen, the suspects took to their heels but they were hotly chased. In the process, one Chukwuma John ‘m’ was arrested while two others escaped into the bush.

3. On interrogation, the suspect made a confessional statement to the effect that the syndicate has being terrorizing the area for quite some time now. He stated further that their mode of operation is to block the road, most especially in the early hour of the day when people will be going out for business and dispossess them of their money and costly handsets. He gave the name of the gang leader as one ‘UCHE’ whom he said is in possession of their gun.

4. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu Psc+ has directed that the suspect be transferred to the FSARS for discreet investigation.

The CP further directed that the escaped members of the syndicate must be fished-out and brought to book.

He therefore assured the residents of the State of their safety all the time as the Command will not rest on its oars in order to rid the State of crime and criminality
