Ogun police arrest 3 suspected cultists with arms in Ogijo

With her effort  to tackle  cultism and other criminal acts in Ogun State, the command has again arrested 3 suspected cultists who have been terrorising Oke-Oko and Igborufu communities in Ogijo Area of the state  on Saturday at 1700hrs with arms and dangerous weapons.

The suspects, who had assembled  at Oke-Oko for a meeting and initiation of some newly recruited members, fled the scene when the police operatives attached to Ogijo Division of the command,led by the Divisional Police Officer, pounced on them. 

With a good follow up of useful information  given to the police, the suspects, LEKAN BABATUNDE, M, SEGUN OWODUNNI, M, and MUSA IBRAHIM, M, who escaped  from the den were picked up by the police one after the other at different  locations within the axis with weapons. LEKAN BABATUNDE was arrested in the house of one YUSUF MUFUTAU, m, who is the ring  leader but now at large.

Items recovered from them included one locally made single barelled gun, live cartridges, cutlasses, photographs of some suspected members, charms and a car with Reg.  No. LAGOS VF 117 KJA.

The residents of these communities that are prone  to cult related crises, have commended the police for the good job and arrest of the notorious  and deadly hoodlums  who have imposed  fears in the minds of the general public in the axis of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali, has appreciated individuals  who have assisted the police with useful intelligence on the suspects which led to their arrest.  He assured the general public that the suspects will be transferred  to the Special  Anti- Robbery  Squad in Magbon  Abeokuta for thorough  investigation and possible  reconciliation of the arrest with previous or pending  cult related cases in the command.

The Commissioner of Police therefore warned his officers and men not to compromise on the fight  against cultism in the state as it remains the best weapon to tackle all crimes and social vices for cultism is the root of all evils.
