Ogun Police arrest 120 Cultists in 2 Days, Arrest 5 during Initiation in Abeokuta

It was a bad time for the cultists in Ogun State as Police operatives deployed by the Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali arrested 120 suspected cult members at various locations in Ogun state within 2 days.
This was revealed by the State PPRO, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement released on Tuesday.
Adejobi in the statement added that, Police operatives attached to Agbara Division of the command on sunday arrested 84 suspected cultists in a forest at Imoshe, Igbesa area of Ado-Odo/Otta LG in the state while initiating new members.
He stated also that operatives in Ifo Divisional Headquarters arrested 10 suspected cultists with arms and ammunition on Monday during initiation at Ifo in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
Three suspected cultists were also arrested at Ilaro by police men on anti-crime patrol on Monday during their meeting.
Similarly, anti crimes squad deployed to curtail the cult activities in Abeokuta city on Monday arrested 30 suspected cultists after the killing of one Babatunde Alamutu in Ago Odo area of city by suspected rival cultists.
In addition, working on a tip off, the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ogun state, pounced on some suspected members of a cult group called SEADOG at Ijeja area of Abeokuta at 6pm on Tuesday and arrested 5 of them.
Those arrested are, Adegbenro Sadiq, Adebayo Olajide, Sholeye Segun, Odejinmi Yusuff and Emmanuel Ajadi.
Items recovered from them as stated by the police included assorted charms, bottles of dry gin, broken bottles, and items meant for initiation process.
Police stated that the suspects arrested with arms have confessed to the crime and the State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali has directed that the suspects be handed over to Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Eleweran, Abeokuta for proper investigations and prosecution.
The Police boss in the release vowed to go after hoodlums and criminals who are terrorising the good people of Ogun state.
He promised not to give criminals any breathing space within the gateway state.
