As the Petitioners of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) and its candidate in April 11 governorship election in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka closes their case in the ongoing governorship tribunal in the state, the last witness, Benjamin Ibikunle Tuesday told the court that the Petitioners deserve victory.

Ibikunle, while going through cross examinations by the Respondents maintained that the Petitioners had approached the court with a very valid case and expect nothing but victory.

The witness who was confronted with some of the exhibits before the court maintained that issues raised by the Respondents during the cross examinations were not substantial enough to throw out the petition insisting that the Petitioners had provided enough evidence to proof that the election was marred with irregularities and malpractices.

PDP and Isiaka had approached the tribunal, challenging the result of the election which returned Senator Ibikunle Amosun for second term in office saying the results in 9 local councils out of twenty contained many irregularities and were done not in conformity with the electoral law.

The petitioners had succeeded in tendering over 4, 000 evidences before the court and called nine witnesses in support of their case.

The first respondent, is however, expected to open its defense tomorrow.

Meanwhile,  the Chairman of the three man panel Justice Henry Olusiyi,  has called on the Respondents to cooperate with court and not seek for unnecessary adjournment when the defence starts.

Speaking with Journalists after the sitting, lead Counsel to the Petitioner, Adetunji Oyeyipo (SAN) also echoed the statement of hope of the witness saying it was as if the witness read his mind before making such statement.

He said, “the process has been okay,  we can’t say in anyway that we have been prevented from presenting our case, I believe the tribunal  has been fair in its handling of the case up to this point and I have no fear that the Tribunal will continue to be fair to all the parties.

“It appeared that the witness was reading my mind from the witness box because I share the same view with him, so far, we have put in substantial evidence which we believe will give us favourable judgement”
