OGUN ASSEMBLY CONSTITUTES STANDING COMMITTEES

In its bid to ensure smooth running of legislative business in the State, the Ogun State House of Assembly has constituted 20 Standing Committees to oversee the affairs of Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The constitution of the Committees was sequel to the presentation of the report of Selection Committee on the constitution of the House Standing Committees, by the Vice Chairman and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo after which a motion for the adoption of the report was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Adeyinka Mafe, seconded by Hon. Yetunde Adekanbi Sogbein and supported by the Whole House.

The Committees constituted include the House Committee on Works to be headed by Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu; Transportation Committee to be chaired by Hon. Israel Jolaoso, while Finance and the Appropriation Committee would be led by Hon. Akanbi Bankole, just as Health Committee is to be administered by Hon. Akinpelu Aina.

Also Education, Science and Technology Committee has Hon. Victor Fasanya as its Chairman, Agriculture and Forestry Committee has Hon. Harrison Adeyemi as its Chairman, while Environment as well as Women Affairs and Social Development Committees have Honourable Tunde Sanusi and Yetunde Sogbein as their Chairmen respectively.

The Committee on Youth, Sports and Employment Generation Committee is to be administered by Hon. Ganiyu Oyedeji; Information, Culture and Tourism Committee has Hon. Kadiri Dare as its Chairman, while Lands and Housing as well as Special Duties Committees are to be headed by Honourable Adebiyi Adeleye and Adebowale Viwanu Ojo as their Chairmen respectively.

Others are Commerce, Investment and Industries which would be administered by Hon. Bowale Solaja; Public Accounts and Anti-corruption Committee has Hon. Oyenuga Olufowobi as its Chairman, while House Services Committee would be headed by Hon. Juliana Akintayo.

Hon. Oluwasesan Soyebo would take charge of Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters; Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions has Hon. Adebowale Ojuri as its Chairman; Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to be headed by Hon. Olusola Sonuga; Committee on Oil, Gas, Energy, Water Resources and Rural Development has Hon. Rasaq Oduntan as its helmsman, while Cooperatives and Community Development Committee would be chaired by Hon. Jimi Otukoya.
