“Ogun APC Crisis: Amosun wants to silence me – Osoba
A former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, on Thursday accused the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun, of a plot to silence him politically.
Chief Osoba was addressing his supporters at a consultative forum held at his residence at the Government Reservation Area, GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta when he made the statement.
He said that Senator Amosun’s actions would not see light of day. “The agenda of 2013 is still much alive and it is to rubbish and finish Osoba politically. I don’t know it’s a crime to forgive and forget what happened 11 years ago. I don’t know it is an offence for me to forgive and forget. I used my name and integrity to secure office for Amosun; now, this is what I am getting for it,” he said.
Messrs Osoba and Amosun are members of the All Progressives Congress but lead separate factions of the party in the state.
Osoba said he had been pushed to the wall by Mr. Amosun’s antics; hence, his resolve to permanently return to Abeokuta, the seat of power. “I have just started new political engineering. I’m going to permanently relocate to Abeokuta now and I’m back. We are not going to move out from APC. All our actions must be progressive,” he declared.
According to Osoba, his grouse had to do with the neglect of party members, particularly over 12,000 agents who laboured for Mr. Amosun in his quest for power.
He however called on party members not to think of leaving the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or the Labour Party, LP.
He said doing this was akin to destroying the South-West. He said members should henceforth commence intensive and regular ward, constituency, local government and senatorial meetings. “What again I want you to take home is that, since you started with me 26 years ago, I have never disappointed you. Go to your ward, local government and consult; I plead with you,” he said.
The former Ogun governor told the party members not insult the office of the governor but should pity Mr. Amosun.
He said that those who praised Mr. Amosun today to high heaven would crucify the governor tomorrow as majority of them are traitors “Pursue issues and don’t insult. We must not abuse the chair or office of the governor. I have been a governor twice and the office must not be ridiculed. Whatever insult they passed on me, I have seen and heard enough but I’m still alive today. We shall fight based on issues and ideas,” he said.
