Sharing is caring!

Ogun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) warmly felicitates with Senator Ibikunle Amosun on his nomination as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amosun, the Senator representing Ogun Central in the Senate, was nominated in accordance with Section 12:3 of the party’s constitution dealing with the composition of NEC.

As part of the composition of the apex body, Section 12:3, Subsection 36 states that: “Two serving Senators from each geo-political zone of the country, who are members of the party to be nominated by the Senators from such zone.”

A press statement signed by the Chairman of APC in Ogun State, Chief Derin Adebiyi, described his nomination as an “honour well deserved.”

Adebiyi enthused: “We wish to express our profound congratulations to you (Senator Ibikunle Amosun, FCA, C.O.N) on your nomination as a member of the very important National Executive Committee (NEC) of our party. Your nomination demonstrates your unquestionable leverage within the party and the high esteem in which you are held by the leadership.”

According to Adebiyi, Amosun’s nomination did not come to the state chapter of the party as a surprise because the nominee “is highly regarded for outstanding performance” in his political career.

“In his current national assignment as a Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial district, he has been an active participant. This is indisputable given his consistent and robust contributions to the deliberations on the floor of the Senate. He is a symbol of quality representation and very committed to the development of his constituency.

“Before now he was a two-term governor of Ogun State where he recorded extraordinary achievements that impacted on all sectors of the state. We recall Senator Amosun’s numerous laureates while in the office as governor, including the award in 2012 as the Best Security Conscious State Governor in West Africa by Security Watch Africa in Accra, Ghana and Governor of the Year award for 2016 for his outstanding achievement in leadership and infrastructural development,  conferred on him by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).”

Adebiyi said Amosun’s rising profile as a political leader from the South-West region was incredible, further describing him as a “political denominator and lodestar from the South West zone of the country.”
He then urged the nominee not to listen to detractors not waver on the values of hard work, perseverance and integrity which had made him an icon in political firmament of the nation.

“Once again, we say big congratulations sir. ”
