Appeal panel set up by the national leadership of the Alliance Progressive Congress, APC to adjudicate in the petition filed by some members of the party in Ogun state has given pass mark to the State Congress Committee on the conduct of the April 5th and 12th Ward and LG congresses.

The Appeal panel led by Hon. Ikra Bilbis, a former Minister of State for Information and Communications. According to sources, ruled that the congresses “substantially complied with the guidelines of the APC”.

The panel said the Congress Committee headed by Hon. Ope Salami provided 98 percent evidence to show that the congress held across the state.

The verdict has therefore cleared the way for the conduct of the state Congress today(Saturday) at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

A group within the party led by Senator Adegbenga Kaka had alleged that the congresses were held in breach of
party rules and so prayed that the APC national leadership nullify the exercise and order a fresh one.

At the sitting of the Appeal panel held on Wednesday, both sides canvassed their positions with the Kaka group maintained that the governor manipulated the congresses and skewed its outcome to suit his plans.

Senator Kaka maintained that there was no congress across the state on the said day.

However, in their testimony, Dr Tunde Ipaye, Hon. Kunle Adesina and Alh. Shuaib Salisu demonstrated to the panelists with oral and video clips that indicated that the congress did not only take place but that several of the
complainants even participated in the congress
