Oba Olugbenle’s disapproval of Awori/Yewa for Governor 2023 is regrettable, Awori/Yewa Solidarity Group Voices Out
Awori/Yewa Solidarity Group an Ogun West based group championing the emancipation and socio-economic development of Awori and Yewa people have decried the statement credited to Oba Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro that Awori/ Yewa people are not ready for the No 1 seat in Ogun State in 2023. The group decried it as ‘regrettable the statement made by the revered Oba as it proves that the traditional leadership of Awori/Yewa has been the pressure group behind the continued political marginalization of the Awori/Yewa people through deliberate selling out our goodwill and patrimony’.
It will be recalled that Oba Kehinde Olugbenle had chosen Lagos during the birthday celebration of Alh. Akeem Adigun to inform Gov. Dapo Abiodun of the wish of Ogun West traditional rulers where the Kabiyesi said the ‘case is closed’ as regards Dapo Abiodun re-election bid for 2023.
The group reminded Kabiyesi Olugbenle that according to Holy Bible in Psalm 62 verse 11 that ‘power belong unto God’ and that the destiny of Awori/Yewa nation is in the hands of Almighty God alone who will choose the next governor of Ogun State in 2023.
The group also reminded Kabiyesi that ‘it is only God who can open a door and no one will be able to shut it (Revelation 3:18)’
The group further admonished all traditional rulers to test the pulse of their subjects before taking decision on complex political matters of this nature. The group advised Ogun West leaders particularly the Kabiyesis to learn from the recent occurrence in Osun State where Oluwo of Iwo was on top of the roof championing the re-election bid of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the governor failed whereas the Timi of Ede against all abuses and intimidation stood behind his son Senator Ademola Adeleke who against all odds won the governorship election for Osun State.
According to the Coordinator of Awori/Yewa Solidaity Group Chief Sabiu Akindele, the future of Ogun West is now and not tomorrow. Chief Akindele therefore call on all indigenes of Awori/Yewa to rise in unity to promote the political emancipation of Ogun West and save it from political extinction.
