Nyako Impeachment: Lawmakers received panel report

Seven-man investigative panel appointed by the former acting Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Ambrose Mammadi, to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Bala Ngilari, has submitted its report to the state Assembly.
The panel concluded its sitting on Saturday after the governor and his deputy failed to appear before it.
Speaker of the House Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, and his deputy, Laori Kwamori, received the report at the speaker’s office.
Briefing reporters, shortly after receiving the report, Rt. Hon. Fintiri said the House would look critically at the outcome of the panel’s findings and that they would be fair to all concerned in reaching a decision on the governor and his deputy.
Earlier on Monday, the Assembly had in its notice of impeachment to the governor accused him of fraudulently diverting N10 billon of workers’ salaries for September and October 2011; N120 million of Adamawa state workers’ emolument for May, 2014; N1.7 billion for Special Assistants; and N8 billion for fictitious Special Assistants scheme. Mr. Ngilari stands accused of extra-budgetary expenditure of over N390 million as overhead cost from January 2013 to December 2013 among other allegations.
They said the expenditure contravenes section121 (4) (a) and (b) of the constitution.
