Nigeria has won four gold medals in KungFu at the just concluded 8th Jiaozuo International Taijiquan Festival held in China.

Henry Hendrix and Otu Patrick Inyang flew the flag of Nigeria at the event.

‎Hendrix, who is ranked Number 1 in Nigeria, defeated the World champion Guotao Zang of China in the finals of the 70kg weight category to win the gold medal in the individual competition.

Hendrix, who is a beneficiary of the Chinese government sponsored 8-month scholarship to Henan University of Technology in Zhengzhou, China for advanced studies in Shaolin Martial Arts for Developing Countries was full of praise to the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of China in Nigeria Mr. Yan Xiangdong.

He also commended president of the Nigeria KungFu Federation, Engr. Tunji Light Ariyomo for rising to the occasion earlier in the year while facilitating the selection of the Nigerian contingent and their participation at the 2015 event.

In his reaction, Ariyomo identified vested interests, unnecessary politicking at the expense of athletes and unending schisms as some of the key challenges militating against excellence in sports in Nigeria.‎
