FIFA has threatened to suspend Nigeria from international football over Chris Giwa’s claim on the Nigerian Football Federation presidency.

During an emergency meeting by the Federation on wednesday, it was stated that Nigeria will be suspended on Monday, September 8 at 07:00 GMT if Giwa does not give up his claim to be football federation president as his election on 26 August is not recognised by the world governing body.

The ban will only be lifted when the former NFF board with Aminu Maigari as president, are allowed back to their offices to work. Only then can fresh elections for a new NFF committee be held.

A ban on Nigeria would mean the Super Eagles would not be able to play their second Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 10 September in South Africa.
