Nigeria repatriates 135 Nigeriens

Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Jigawa Command, has repatriated 135 citizens of Niger illegally residing in the state.
The NIS controller in the state, Isa Jere, made this known to journalists in Dutse on Thursday.
“As part of our effort to rid the state of illegal immigrants, we have arrested 135 illegal Nigeriens, 77 of them were arrested in Gumel zone and 58 in Hadejia zone,” Mr. Jere said.
He said the command had repatriated 350 Nigeriens who resided illegally in the state in the last two months.
Mr. Jere said that the aliens came into the country through Maigatari border in Jigawa and Babban Mutum border in Katsina State.
The controller advised any foreigner who wanted to stay in the state to obtain proper ECOWAS travel documents and come in through the recognised entry points for proper screening.
He commended the state government for the provision of logistics which made the operation successful.
