The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has said the force will be embarking on building projects to improve the welfare of junior officers.

Arase, while at a one-day workshop held for officers of the Works Department of the force in Abuja, mandated the department to build 6,000 units of modern houses for the rank and file personnel within six months, stating that 500 units of the houses should be located in each of the 12 Police Zonal Commands across the nation..

He said: “Upon completion, a unit of two bedroom flat will be delivered to officers at a cost not above N4 million as materials will be sourced directly from manufacturers.

“Officers will be able to acquire the houses through NPF Mortgage Bank Plc.”

He explained that the bank in collaboration with National Housing Fund would finance the project with the investment department of the force coordinating it.
