Nigeria Engages Foreign Consultant In Tackling Tax Evasion
Nigeria is seeking the services of an internationally renowned firm, Mackinzie, in tackling tax evasion and other tax related issues.
After the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council held in Abuja, on Wednesday, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Oknojo-Iweala, told reporters that the decision to 
seek Mackinzie’s assistance followed a finding that over 65 per cent of registered tax payers have not filed any returns in the past two years.
Mackinzie is expected to assist the Federal Inland Revenue Services in tax drive in 2014.
She also said that 75 per cent of medium and small businesses in the country were not in the tax system.
Also, at the meeting, the sum of 14.5 billion Naira (about 92.9 million dollars) was approved for the rehabilitation of five major high ways across the country including the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa-Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna road section 1.
The council also approved a National Addressing Policy that stipulates a standard way of addressing houses and buildings across major cities to address the inconsistency in the way and manner the addressing system is carried out in the past.
