Niger bans full-face Islamic veil in Diffa
Niger has announced a ban on the wearing of the full-face islamic veil in the Diffa region which borders Nigeria.
The governor of Diffa who told a gathering of religious leaders said the ban was necessary to prevent the growing incidents of suicide bombers disguising as Muslim women to detonate bombs.
Diffa and Bosso regions have both seen attacks by suspected Boko Haram bombers dressed in the religious garment.
