New Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was this afternoon turbaned after he made his first official appearance at the Kano Government House to pay homage to the state Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

After the official turbaning, the new Emir said peace and stability will be his watchwords during his reign, adding that his policies and decisions will be guided by Islamic tenet.

According to Baba Dantiye, the spokesman of Governor Kwankwaso, Sanusi has received his appointment letter from the Kano State Government and has been officially turbaned.

“He received his appointment letter and other traditional staff this morning ahead of his turbaning, which had happened this afternoon, he said.

The Kano State Government through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Rabiu Sulaimon Bichi on Sunday announced Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the man to succeed the late Ado Bayero.

However, watchers of the events as soon as Sanusi emerged the Emir of Kano was of the opinion that, PDP-led government at the centre realising that Kano will be out of their reach in next general elections has been showing some kind of bitterness.

Last night, the Federal Government grounded a private jet that took Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and other leaders of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to Kano, disallowing it from flying back to Port Harcourt.

Also this morning, a plane that carried Governor Tanko Al-Makura to Kano Airport was not given clearance to land by the Commandant of the Airport.

Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN confirmed the ban of any private jet into Kano by the military.

Former minister of Federal Capital Territory and a chieftain of APC, Malla Nasir El-Rufai on his official Facebook said, the ban was part of the ongoing persecution of Sanusi by the Jonathan administration.

“Is Nigeria under military rule or martial law allowing the violation of constitutional rights with such impunity?.

“When will the Jonathanians give up on this hopeless persecution of a good man? For how long will the Jonathanians continue to test the patience of our people and the citizens of Kano with this reckless impunity,” he queried.

The new Emir has before now be a torn in the flesh of Jonathan administration. He was suspended as governor of Nigeria Central Bank.

Also, the Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso has become a sworn enemy of President Jonathan since he defected from PDP to APC and this means the major people in Kano are opposition to Jonathan re-election and Kano is the second state with largest voters.
