NDLEA Goes Tough On Drug Peddlers With House To House Search

Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Mr. Sule Momodu, on Tuesday said, fighting drug peddling is the beginning of fighting crime in the society.

Mr Momodu stated this while on house to house, stop and search brigade raid on drug peddlers with enforcement Operation team.

In Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, a flashing point for crimes, four suspects were arrested with several kilogrammes of  Indian hemp recovered.

During the operation, at Odaraba village in Obosi, the home of a female suspect was searched and several kilograms of Indian hemp hidden in several places were recovered.

Two female and male suspects were arrested during the operation.

After the operation, the NDLEA commandant, Mr Momodu attributed the success recorded in apprehending the traffickers to proper strategic planning, adding that the arrested suspects would be prosecuted.

Thereafter, the suspects were taken to Onitsha where they were handed over to the Police for onward prosecution.

Available records show that in 2014 alone, 25 suspects have been convicted and sentenced to varying jail terms while over 40 cases are at various stages in the Federal High Court.
