Nasarawa Police debunk bomb rumour in Lafia

Nasarawa State ‎Police Command has said the loud sound heard in Lafia on Thursday was not a bomb explosion.

ASP Numan Ismaila, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the State, Supol Numan Ismaila on Friday told journalists in Lafia that the sound was a sound of bursted trailer tyre.

He said, when people heard the sound, they mistook it for bomb blast and it caused commotions.

The police image maker said further that immediately the bomb like sound was reported officers of the command immediately swung into action to ascertain where the sound came from.

While soliciting for the support of members of the public on behalf of the command, he appealed to residents of the state to avoid places that are overcrowded and be security conscious.

Supol Ismaila urged the people to report any abandoned vehicle or object that is suspicious.

The command warned people to desist from causing panic and engaging in rumour mongering.
