NANS Endorses President Jonathan for Second Term
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has announced its support for President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate for next month’s election.
The students who are leaders in the South-West Zone of the country, including the Presidents of Student Union Governments of the institutions in the zone, Ondo Joint Campus Committee Chairman Odunayo Kowe, NANS Southwest (Zone D) Treasurer, and the Vice President NANS, [National Affairs] Timilehin Ayenuro, held a meeting at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, on Tuesday.
The students said they were endorsing Jonathan for a second term in office as a reward for his achievements in the education sector.
They said the President was responsible for the establishment of 150 Almajiri modern schools to boost education in the north, establishment of nine new federal universities, and equipping of 51 Federal and State polytechnics with state-of-the-art laboratories.
They also applauded the President’s promise to restore Federal Government Scholarships to students and release the N200Billion Intervention Fund for the education sector.
