N20bn Corruption: Group asks EFCC to investigate Governor Jang

Civil Society Network Against Corruption, CSNAC, on Tuesday asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, over a N20 billion corruption allegation.
CSNAC a coalition of some civic groups in Nigeria made the call when it was discovered that, the state House of Assembly is refusing to probe the governor.
The chairman of the group, Mr Olanrewaju Suraju called on EFCC to commence an urgent investigation on the allegations as he said he believed the petition might never be revisited on the floor of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
He said: “By the powers vested on the Commission under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004, CSNAC hereby call on you to commence urgent investigate into the allegations these allegations for the purpose of accountability and public awareness.”
Mr Suraju also said that tolerating such will only abet corruption in the state, which has been experiencing conflict, and in Nigeria as a whole.
Allegations leved against the governor included extra budgetary spending, misappropriation, inflated contract sum, unauthorized bank loans, as well as involvement of the governor’s family in financial management of the state, among others.
