MSSN National Executive Council, Muslim leaders, hold national retreat; develop 15-year strategic plan
In a significant step towards setting a clear roadmap for increasing growth and achieving sustainable development, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) organised a national retreat during which a 15-year strategic blueprint for bolstering the vision and key objectives of the MSSN was developed.
The four-day national retreat, organised and hosted by the 38th National Executive Council (NEC) of MSSN, held in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital between January 30th and February 2nd, 2025 was attended by about 50 participants, including members of the 38th National Executive Council (NEC), the immediate past 37th NEC members, several distinguished personalities, and notable past leaders of the society.
Speaking on the significance of the retreat, the National Amir of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Mustapha Tajudeen Olumide, said the retreat was aimed at propelling the new executive officers of the society to excellence in service delivery. “The retreat afforded us the opportunity to remind ourselves that the strength of our tomorrow is rooted in the depth of our vision today.
The retreat is important for us as new executives because by imbibing the spirit of excellence, we will be able to build on the good legacies of our founders and past leaders,” he stated. Amir Mustapha added that the 15-year blueprint underscored the long-term vision of development and sustainability which were the hallmarks of the MSSN, and which have accounted for the giant strides the society has recorded from one generation of leaders to another over the years.
He enthused further: “This 15-year strategic blueprint is a product of robust brainstorm sessions that we had during the four-day retreat. It will propel our society towards excellence and empower our members to become beacons of hope and agents of positive change in their communities. “ Amir Mustapha while restating the commitment of the new executive council under his leadership to serve the society without looking back, assured all MSSN members nationwide that better days were ahead in spite of the temporary challenges they might be going through.
“To my dear MSSN members, I want to assure you that our best days are ahead of us. As we navigate the challenges of our time, let us hold on to our values of faith, knowledge, and service. Together, we will build a brighter future for ourselves, our communities, and our nation. Let us march forward with confidence, courage, and conviction,” he said.
Among the distinguished resource personnel, who delivered lectures and speeches during the retreat, were Prof. Oladosu Afeez, Mallam Umaru Larat Aliyu, Prof. Adamu Aliyu, Prof. Adam S. Olatunji, Dr. Shehu Ahmad, Mr. Moruff Adenekan and Dr. Hadiyatullah Ajao.It would be recalled that the new MSSN leadership was inaugurated during the Transitional Conference of the society held from January 10th to 11th, 2025, at its National Headquarters in Abuja.
