MSSN National Exco visits UNILORIN Vice Chancellor to solicit support, encourage academic excellence amongst Students
The new National Executive Council (NEC) members of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) under the leadership of the National Amir, Mustapha Tajudeen Olumide, have paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, (UNILORIN), Professor Abdul Wahab Egbewole, SAN, in continuation of their familiarisation visit to key partners and strategic stakeholders.
During the visit of the MSSN leadership to Prof. Egbewole’s office on Thursday, February 13, 2025, Amir Mustapha shared the strategic focus of the new administration with the Vice-Chancellor, which includes achieving financial stability for the Society, as well as increasing relevance among members and the broader community.He stated further that another key area of focus for the new administration is the development of a strategic plan for navigating the era of Artificial Intelligence, and enhancing the database of members.
“As the new National Executive Council (NEC) members of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), we are honoured to be received in audience by a highly-revered leader, mentor, father, and the Vice Chancellor of the prestigious University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdul Wahab Egbewole, a distinguished scholar, administrator and Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
“In demonstration of our commitment to take the Society to greater heights, we are here on a familiarization visit to your office as one of our key partners and strategic stakeholders to share our vision for the MSSN. We are here to also receive your guidance and blessings, and to benefit from your wealth of experience as one of the foremost university administrators in Nigeria,” Amir Mustapha said. While commending the Vice Chancellor for his visionary leadership of the ivory tower, he sought the support of Prof. Egbewole and that of UNILORIN in achieving the lofty initiatives envisioned by the new NEC to steer the MSSN to greater heights.
He added: “We solicit your continued support to MSSN and the cooperation of all stakeholders, including our members, alumni, parents, educational institutions, and the wider community. Our conviction is that together, we can achieve our vision of building a vibrant and dynamic Muslim students’ community that is spiritually grounded, intellectually empowered, and socially responsible.
”Responding, Prof. Egbewole, congratulated the new National Amir and other NEC members on their emergence, and prayed for Allah’s guidance in their endeavours.He expressed appreciation for the leadership’s decision to visit him and offered advice on various aspects that could help accomplish the administration’s goals, while assuring them of his ongoing support to the Society.
Prof. Egbewole stated: “I am delighted to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the new National Executive Council (NEC) of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), and to the members. I use this moment to assure you of my unwavering support to the new leadership and MSSN as you embark on this new chapter. As a key stakeholder, I am committed to providing guidance and mentorship to ensure the continued growth and success of MSSN.
”He expressed his excitement with the key initiatives set by the NEC, noting that they aligned with his own values and vision for the youth, even as he affirmed that he was eager to support their efforts.“My doors are always open to welcome you anytime you seek my counsel. In a related development, Amir Mustapha, in a meeting with the members of MSSN UNILORIN branch, encouraged them to stay focused and committed to raising the bar of academic excellence.
“Remember, excellence is not a solo act; it’s a team effort. Support one another, learn from each other’s strengths, and lift each other up. You are the leaders of tomorrow, and the world needs your unique perspectives, skills, and talents. But to make a meaningful impact, you must first invest in yourselves. So treat academic excellence not just as a goal, but a mindset, a commitment to pushing beyond boundaries, to learning from failures, and to strive for greatness,” he said.
Accompanying the National Amir were the MSSN National Legal Adviser, the National Asset Maintenance Officer, the National Assistant Secretary for Scholarships, the Amir of the MSSN UNILORIN branch, and the Naibul Amir of Da’awah University of Ilorin branch.
