Mrs Olonisakin takes over from Mrs Badeh as DEPOWA President
The former President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) Mrs. Mary Iyah Badeh has handed over the baton and mantle of leadership of the association to the new president and the wife of the new Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin.
The ceremony took place at DEPOWA Secretariat, Asokoro Abuja.
In her valedictory speech, Mrs Badeh expressed her gratitude to Almighty God for His guidance, mercy and love throughout her tenure.
She was also full of praises to the members of the Association and executives for their tremendous support and cooperation accorded her during her tenure.
While congratulating the new President, she enjoined all the members to give the same cooperation and support to Mrs Olonisakin to enable her move the Association to the next level.
“I am pleased to state that I have received quite tremendous support from all of you. I urge you to support my sister, Mrs. Olonisakin more than you supported me, bearing in mind that our common interest is the growth of DEPOWA” She stressed.
In her remark, Mrs Omobolanle Olonisakin thanked the Almighty God for her new tour of duty as DEPOWA President which according to her, was premised on the appointment of her husband as the 16th Chief of Defence Staff.
She commended her predecessor for the exemplary leadership qualities she exhibited right from the time she was the National President of Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) and her achievements while in office.
She also commended Mrs Badeh most especially for the wisdom she used in running the affairs of the Association during her tenure.
In order to build upon the achievements of Mrs Badeh and those of the previous administrations, she urged all members to come onboard and be partners in progress to enable them work as members of a united family and move the Association to the next level.
