Morocco Says It Cannot Host AFCON 2015 due to Risk of Ebola Outbreak
Morocco will no longer host the 2015 African Cup of Nations after the Government announced it is not ready to put it’s citizen’s lives at risk of contacting the Ebola Virus Disease rampaging West Africa.
The Moroccan government last week, asked the Confederation of African Football CAF to postpone the competition so its citizens and security agents would be safe but the Federation insisted the games must hold in January 2015 as scheduled.
The North African country has now opted out of the competition, less than 3 months to the games.
South Africa and Ghana, however, are said to be interested in hosting the African football tournaments.
