More PDP leaders defect to LP in Ondo
No fewer than twenty leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside hundreds of their loyalists in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State yesterday dumped their Party for the ruling Labour Party in the State.
The defectors, who were received by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi on behalf of Governor Olusegun Mimiko in Akure, said their decision to join Labour Party was informed by the various unprecedented developmental projects being executed across the state by the Dr Mimiko’s administration in the last three and half years.
The defectors included, Mr Omoniyi Eniolotu (youth leader), Mrs Aladejana Iyadunni (women leader), Mr Makun Remilekun (ex-officio), Mr Idowu Gbenga (organising secretary), Hon Aruwaji Eniolorunda, Mr Olu Aisida, Mr Aro Olorunfemi, Mrs Mabogunje Tinuade, Mr Saturday Eniato, Mr Femi Bankole, and Mr Amimi Kenge among others.
Governor Mimiko, who spoke through his deputy, Alhaji Alli Olanusi said: “Labour Party is a party that does not 
discriminate, adding that the party’s rewards for members are based on performance and not years of membership”.
Mimiko advised the new entrants to work hand in hand with old members to ensure the victory of the party in the October 20 gubernatorial election in the State.
He said: “I want to congratulate you for your bold step to join the progressive party in Nigeria. In Labour Party, it is not how long but how well. There is no discrimination in our party, it is how you lay your bed so you lie on it. I advise you to work closely with old members so that our party can be victorious in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. I’m sure you will not regret your action. If you work very hard, you will enjoy the party”.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr Omoniyi Eniolotu submitted that they discovered that Dr Mimiko’s administration in the State has actually impacted on the lives of the people, describing Labour Party as the most progressive party in the country.
He vowed to work assiduously for the victory of the Governor in the forthcoming election and lauded the council chairman, Prince Afolabi Mabogunje for following the footsteps of the Governor in his people-oriented programmes.
