More PDP govs to join APC – Wamakko
Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State according to News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) has informed that more PDP governors have concluded plans to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor, who did not mention the names of the governors and their states, made the revelation today(Saturday) in Wamakko after the ward congresses exercise in Wamakko Local Government Area.
While speaking about the congress, the governor said, Sokoto APC ward congresses were held to ratify the consensus decision taken by the party’s candidates in the 23 local government areas of the state.
He said that the successful conduct of the exercise was a good beginning for the APC.
“The party will win all the elective positions at all levels during the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, all members of the party in the local government took a unanimous decision that the adoption of the consensus arrangement was in the best interest of the party.
The chairmen of Tangaza and Silame local government areas, Mohammed Sahabi and Mani Katami respectively, said that the consensus arrangement would help to solidify the APC.
The duo, who spoke to newsmen in Gidan-Madi and Silame respectively, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
The Chairman, Ward Congress Committee, Muhammad Dan-Ango, said the exercise was concluded peacefully in the 244 electoral wards in the state.
Gov. Wamakko and four other governors (Kwara, Rivers, Kano, and Adamawa) joined the APC from Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, last year. The governors were among the G7 group of PDP governors who had problems with the leadership of the PDP at that time, then headed by Bamanga Tukur as National Chairman.
The other two members of the G7, Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Babangida Aliyu of Niger, opted to remain with the PDP.
The APC currently has 16 governors while the PDP has 18.
