Nigerian military has asked State Governments to identify and persecute drug cartels to end drug trafficking and boost security.
This call was made by, Lt. Col. Igwe Omoke, of the Guards’ Brigade on Thursday during the destruction of hard drugs worth N135million in Abuja.
According to him, apprehending the culprits at the airports alone, leaving their bosses to continue business, was simply a stop-gap measure.
Col. Omoke commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), stressing that the hunt for culprits would be intensified.
Mrs Margaret Ogundipe, Head of Forestic and Commander of Narcostics in NDLEA in her own said: “The damage to the health, apparently, is immeasurable”.
Mrs Ogundipe however revealed that funding remained an issue for the agency’s efficiency.
