Members of Chris Giwa-Led NFF Board Charge Maigari and Danagogo to Court
A Federal High Court in Jos has ordered the Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo, immediate-past President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari and NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu to appear before the court.
The form bearing the court was reportedly served on Friday at about 3pm. It was hung on the entrance door of NFF headquarters in Abuja, ordering the trio to explain why they should not be committed to prison for contempt.
The Plaintiffs as contained on the issued order included Yahaya Adama and Obinna Ogba -members of Chris Giwa-led Board- who had obtained an injunction ordering a stop to both extra-ordinary NFF congress and the just concluded election held in Warri, Delta State early in the week.
According to reports, the order said: “Take Notice that the plaintiff will on Wednesday the 18th day of October, 2014 at the hour of 9am in the forenoon appear before this court for an order for your committal to prison for having disobeyed the Order of this Court made on the 19 day of September, 2014, enjoining and restraining you and severally from…
“Take Notice that you are hereby required to attend the court on the first mentioned day to show why an order for your committal should not be made.
“Take notice that unless you obey the directions contained in this order, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison…”
Meanwhile, Sports Minister, Danagogo had on Tuesday denied being served any court order restraining the leadership of NFF from conducting September 30 election in Warri.
Though the court ordered that Giwa-led NFF be allowed to resume duties following August 26 election, the heavy presence of the country’s security Agencies at premises of NFF have prevented the two factional Presidents from assuming duties, a situation some stakeholders have warned that Nigeria should not be plowed into having two Presidents piloting its football activities.
