Mayweather Apologises for Mocking De La Hoya’s Rehabilitation Stint

World Light Middleweight Champion,Floyd Mayweather has issued an Apology to Oscar de la Hoya this morning, after a picture mocking De La Hoya’ drug abuse problem was posted on Mayweather’s Instagram account.

Oscar de la Hoya who is a former World Middleweight Champion and won 10 championship titles at different levels during his boxing career, is also the promoter of Floyd Mayweatherboxer,Carnelo Alvarez who fought Mayweather on Saturday. De La Hoya missed the fight because he had to check himself into a Treatment Centre.

The Post which was tagged with the caption “Somewhere in Rehab” was a picture of De La Hoya crying and had a caption below it saying “Oscar: I gave Canelo the wrong blueprint I was high” In a Press statement issued today, Mayweather said, “It’s unfortunate that a stupid picture was posted to my Instagram account earlier today that was not posted by me or authorized by me to post.

“I completely support Oscar De La Hoya and his family during this difficult time in his life. I stand by him unconditionally and would never personally disrespect him or anyone else who struggles with addiction.
Mayweather who has been compared with Mohammad Ali for his undefeated run in 44 fights said, “I apologize to Oscar and his family for this posting. I wish him well and am rooting for him to win his fight too. “I also apologize to all of my followers for this ridiculous post. I have no ill-will towards anyone.”
