Mauritius: Former minister sentenced to 12 months in jail
Mauritian Former ICT and Innovation Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, who resigned from his post after he was found guilty of conflict of interest, was on Thursday jailed 12 months.
However, the court has suspended the sentence up until July 16 pending a social inquiry on Jugnauth to determine if he is capable of doing community works.
The 53-year-old Jugnauth, son of Prime Minister, Anerood Jugnauth, was Finance Minister when the government acquired a medi-clinic belonging to a member of his family for the sum of Rs 144 million, approximately 4.1 million dollars.
