The NYPD is investigating a police-involved shooting this afternoon on Montgomery Street in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.
Sources say it began when a marked police car was out on summons patrol in the neighborhood and noticed a person driving erratically in a white Mustang.

When they started to pursue the vehicle it crashed into a city bus and truck.

Sources say the driver then jumped out of the car and police pursued him on foot.

They say the driver fell to the ground, dropping a gun in the process.

Sources say officers ordered the man not to reach for the gun, but he did.

That’s when police fired two shots, striking him once in the abdomen.

The man was transported to Kings County Hospital in an unknown condition but is expected to live.

Police have not yet released the man’s name, identifying him only as a 22-year-old.

It does not appear any officers were injured.

NY1 has a crew at the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
