MAMA to Hold after 3-Year Hiatus
The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) will hold this year, after a 3-year hiatus, on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Durban International Convention Centre, South Africa.
Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks, Alex Okosi disclosed this at a press conference in Durban revealing that there will be keen contests between the finest music artistes on the African continent in 13 categories.
Three “Road to MAMA” concerts have also been billed for Durban, Lagos, and Nairobi between April and May. They will be part of the build-up to the main show and nominated Disc Jockeys and local artistes will perform at the concerts.
The first edition of MAMA took place in Abuja, Nigeria in 2008. Nairobi, Kenya hosted the awards in 2009 while Lagos, Nigeria was home to the last edition in 2010.
