Maku Defects from PDP to APGA; Named Party’s Nasarawa Governorship Candidate
The former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) after losing out in the ruling party’s governorship primary election in Nasarawa state.
Maku who was an adept President Jonathan loyalist while he was a minister, is now the APGA governorship candidate in Nasarawa state for the February 2015 election.
Maku’s name was reportedly submitted before the December 26 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, to contest the governorship position on the APGA platform.
Maku was expected to join Labour Party but the party said did not grant him a waiver to secure its governorship ticket as it already had a sole candidate, Hajia Aisha Mbaka, to represent the party.
