Luis Enrique reveals Suarez will play in Gamper Trophy Match with Club Leon
FC Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique has confirmed Luis Suarez will feature in the club’s pre-season clash with Club Leon for the Gamper Trophy on Monday.
The former Celta coach said he was impressed by Suarez during his training and decided to allow him play.
“Luis Suarez will play some minutes in the Gamper tomorrow,”
Enrique said. “During two training sessions he’s already shown he is really talented. He looks like the player we were looking for.”
Enrique also commenter on Full-back Dani Alves, who has also been linked with a move away from the spanish club this summer, as they are reportedly looking to sell the Brazilian and sign Douglas from Sao Paulo as a direct replacement. Insisting he does not wish to let Dani Alves leave in the immediate future, he said: “I’ve said this several times.
He arrived late to the squad [after the World Cup] but he has an [great] level of fitness. Alves is at Barca, he is in the squad and there he will remain. In the future, we’ll see. I will have opportunities to meet with anyone, I don’t comment on players who are not here.”
The former Spain international also explained why Gerard Deulofeu joined Sevilla.
“The club must always look to get stronger. Deulofeu was my decision, I don’t believe he would have got enough minutes to continue his devlopment. It’s a coach’s decision. He needs to improve a few things and show he can be at a club like Barca.”
When asked who his first-choice goalkeeper for the coming season will be, he said: “Yes, I have preferences on who will play.
Any of the three could. I’m clear about who I will select.”
