Liverpool reclaims EPL top spot

Liverpool yesterday,closed in on a 2-2 draw with Swansea to get back the No 1 spot on the table. The dramatic match which was the last of the Fourth week saw Arsenal exit the top spot after their 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday,leaving them just a point behind Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers’ Side recorded their first draw this season after 21-year old Jonjo Shelvey put the ball in the back of the net in the 87th second,making it the first goal against Liverpool in the Premier league this season. His sloppy pass to the Swansea keeper was however caught by Daniel Sturridge,who took advantage and scored Liverpool’s first goal of the night in the 4th minute. Daniel Sturridge has become the first Liverpool player to score in each of the first four games of a Premier League season. Shelvey went on to make another mistake, which was this time,capitalised on by Nigerian Forward Victor Moses in the 36th minute in his first cap for Liverpool. Shelvey compensated for his mistakes in the 64th minute by making an assist for Michu,who scored the equaliser,giving Swansea a point and the 13th position on the Premier League table.
The match saw Liverpool lose some balance early in the second half after Phillipe Coutinho was substituted due to a shoulder injury,thereby disrupting the Moses-Coutinho-Sturridge formidable attack. The match ended with a 42% possession for Liverpool and 58% for hosts,Swansea.
Liverpool’s next fixture will be at Anfield Stadium on September 21 against Southampton while Swansea will visit Crystal Palace on September 22.
