Lecturer brutally beaten in own home to meet attackers in prison
A university lecturer who was viciously beaten by a gang of Polish burglars is set to meet his attackers in prison.
Paul Kohler was left virtually unrecognisable after the violent assault during a robbery at his Wimbledon home in south London.
His wife Samantha was tied to a chair during the raid whilst his daughter Eloise managed to hide and call the police.
Pawel Honc, 24, and Mariusz Tomaszewski, 32, were both sentenced to 19 years in prison for the attack.
While Oskar Pawlowicz, 30, and Dawid Tychon, 29, were both sentenced to 13 years.
Mr Kohler said he was meeting burglar Mariusz Tomaszewski with his wife Samantha and daughter Eloise in a few weeks’ time.
It comes after one Mr Kohler’s attacker recently lost a Court of Appeal challenge to have his sentence reduced.
The lecturer said he was relieved about the dismissal but hopes to be able to forgive his attackers at some point in the future.
It is important for my daughter that they are not just seen as monsters.
It is important for us to talk to them about the effect it had, because ultimately we don’t want their lives to be wasted either. (itv news)
