The All Progressives Congress has said that it will not zone the Senate presidency and speakership positions of the Houses of Assembly.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Sunday, disclosed members of the legislative arm of government will be allowed to choose their own leaders without interference from the party.

He said, “We will throw these positions open, we will do what we did during the presidential primaries. There has been much noise these days. We will allow the members of the National Assembly to choose their leaders.

“Nobody is going to impose leaders on the Senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives. Otherwise, there will be no stability.

“There are too many interests, let them sit down and decide who should be their leaders.

“We have got to a stage that we should allow them to elect their leaders on their own and move forward with our plans for the nation.”
