The Lagos State Water Corporation has assured the residents of the state that water supply will be better in 2015.

The Managing Director of the corporation, Shoya Holloway, said on Friday that efforts were going on to expand the 13 micro waterworks across the state. He also said work on the Phase II project of the Adiyan Water Works had started and would produce 70 million gallons per day.

“We want to improve service delivery this year and we are delighted to say that we have connected Oworonsoki community of one million people to Adiyan Phase II line.

”When the Adiyan Phase II is completed, the corporation will connect residents in the Badagry corridor and the Odo-Mallam water scheme in Epe.”

He said the corporation currently supplies water to 20 million residents across the state with over 210 million gallons per day.

“This is not enough because the corporation requires about 540 million gallons per day to effectively service the people. This is why the state government has begun massive expansion of water infrastructure to meet the demand.”

He also revealed that the corporation was working with private companies to makes its projects feasible as they were capital intensive.
