Lagos state APC to Hold Governorship Primary at Onikan Stadium on Thursday
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced it will hold its governorship primary on Thursday at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
The state chairman of the party, Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale, issued a statement on Wednesday, explaining the reason for a venue different from the party’s headquarters.
He said: “Ordinarily the Governorship Primaries is supposed to be held at the Party Headquarters going by the Party’s guidelines but Lagos Chapter applied to the National Secretariat for a change of venue just for convenience sake.
In granting the waiver the National Secretariat in a letter dated 1st December 2014 wrote inter-alia: “We refer to your letter dated 28th November 2014 in respect of the above mentioned subject and wish to convey approval for the use of Onikan Stadium as the venue of the Governorship primaries.”
“As a consequence of this, the leadership of the party wishes to inform you that accreditation starts by 9.00am while voting proper kicks off by 12 noon. Over 3000 delegates are expected at the venue for the exercise.
“All logistics have been put in please, including adequate security and traffic management for a hitch free exercise.”
