Lagos Plane crash… 15 dead, 5 survived
A charter passenger plane has crash landed in Lagos barely 10 minutes after take-off from Airport in Lagos A witness said the crash occurred at the local wing of the airport close to the section were JET-A1, plane fuel, is stored.
Fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane.
According to the General Manager of GM of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) 15 people has been confirmed dead while 5 survivors are currently hospitalized at LASUTH Ikeja receiving emergency treatment
The plane was bound for Akure in the south-west of the country, a spokesman for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. The engine failed and it crash-landed and burst into flames, Supo Atobatele was quoted as saying.
Conflicting reports indicate that the plane was conveying some family members and the body of Former Governor of Ondo State Chief Olusegun Kokumo Agagu. Agagu was a one-time minister of Energy; He was the first Aviation Minister under Chief Olusegun Obasanjo before Mrs. Kema Chikwe.
