The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has encouraged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to pray for peace and unity in the country.

Honourable Obasa released a Ramadan message to Muslims to mark the commencement of the 30-day fasting period via his Chief Press Secretary, Musbau Rasak, saying:

“It is a period of sober reflection, a period we move closer to Almighty Allah in supplication and prayers and a period prayers are answered by Almighty Allah, so it is not only for Muslims alone who should make positive use of this spiritual period but also Nigerians in general irrespective of their religious belief.”

He also urge Muslims to love another and share love with members of other religions so as to encourage brotherliness among Nigerians.

“Islam means peace, thus this is the period Muslims can display the peaceful nature of the religion to people especially adherents of other religions.

“I greet all Muslims during this period and I pray that we will all reap the positive reward of its essence in our lifetime and the hereafter.”
