Kunle Afolayan releases 1 October Trailer
Nollywood filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan yesterday released the trailer to his highly anticipated movie, October 1,as a birthday gift to himself as he turned 37 yesterday, September 30, 2013.
Afolayan who is famous for churning out quality movies like Irapada and Figurine in the past, said of the release,’Its my birthday on 30th of September and the gift i’m giving myself is the First Official trailer of the highly expected film OCTOBER 1 MOVIE which will release on 1st of October 2013. Also launching is the official website and the new poster for the film. Its a revolution in Africa cinema and together we can top the world.’
The movie is set in September 1960 with Nigeria on the verge of independence from British colonial rule. It tells the story of a northern Nigerian Police Detective, DAN WAZIRI, who is urgently dispatched by the Colonial Government to the trading post town of Akote in the Western Region of Nigeria to solve a series of female murders that have struck horror in the hearts and minds of the local community. On getting to Akote, more murders are committed, and with local tension high and volatile, Waziri has a race on his hands to solve the case before even more local women are killed.
Set against the backdrop of the national celebratory mood of the impending independence, Waziri is pulled into a game of cat and mouse as he and the killer try to outwit each other… leading to the climatic end in which the life of a popular local female teacher and village belle, TAWA, is held in the balance. Waziri has to race against the clock to capture the killer, save Tawa and solve the crime before the British flag is lowered and the Nigerian flag raised on Independence Day… October 1.
The Cast of the much talked about movie includes Deola Sagoe, Sadiq Daba and Kunle Afolayan himself. The movie is said to have cost $2million to make.
