The National Secretary of the Labour Party, Kayode Ajulo, ., has said the party’s (LP) candidate, Dr. Philip Salawu, is the only one among those jostling to be governor that can take Kogi State out of the political quagmire. He made this assertion in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday. According to Ajulo in the statement made available to NigerianEcho, both Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC have contributed to the current state of backwardness of the people hence the need to support LP’s candidate.
As preparations gear up for the November election in the State, all major political party have selected and produced their candidates. The ruling party, PDP, in the state produced the incumbent Governor, Idris Wada, as it’s flagbearer while APC produced a former Governor of the state, Abubakar Audu, as it’s candidate.
Ajulo says, “The interesting thing about the duo is they are birds of same feather as they are not the clear alternative needed to develop and take the confluence state to the needed required eldorado state.
“The candidate of the both PDP and APC have contributed immensely to the current state of backwardness of the people of the state, as a once promising state is no longer among the league of states of the nation due to bad policies of the duo.
“The decision of Dr. Philip Salawu, a former deputy governor of the state to find alternative succor in Labour Party is a clear indication of the desired needed alternative that can move the state forward. His antecedents shows and reveals that he has the credentials to move the state forward and engage full utilization of untapped human and natural resources in the state, this with clear selection of LP, a party that is of the down trodden and working class’s whose manifestos is clearly built on building and sustaining the class for over all growth of the nation is very strategic as it serves a clear cut alternative.”
Ajulo added that “the state at times like this, needs somebody that can think outposts the box and tap into the available resources of the state for over all benefit of all, as this period in the history of our nation is also talking about diversification of revenue generation. This the LP candidate offers and will deploy for the people of the state.
“This is thus calling on all workers in the state whose salary is yet to be paid, artisans that has shut down because of bad economic policy of the incumbent and that of the APC candidate during his reign to rise up and support the credible alternative to the state as we draw new general elections. We must not make mistake of the past again as its time to move our state forward”, the statement concluded.
