Kidnap Saga: Edo Police kill 2, Arrest 1
The Police in Benin, Edo State, yesterday, shot dead two suspected kidnappers, who attempted to abduct a pregnant woman identified simply as Mrs Ehi, on Evbomoma Road, off Sapele Road, Benin.
The suspects according to the police in Benin had abducted the pregnant woman, said to be from a wealthy family, into a waiting car but unknown to them, men of the anti-kidnapping unit at the state Police Command got the hint and stormed the area.
In rescuing the victim, police killed two and arrested one. According to the police at a press conference, pump action gun, one double-barrel cut-to-size gun, 10 live cartridges, one Nissan Sunny salon car with registration number CU 835 JJJ and a Santana salon car marked AA 908 DEA were recovered from the suspects.
Police gave the suspects name as; Brown Ogunbor, Monday and Mark. The surviving suspect told newsmen that somebody from the prison called him on phone to partake in the kidnap operation.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Funso Adebanjo, who displayed the dead bodies of the suspects told newsmen, he will continue the crack down on kidnappers and other criminals operating in the state.
