Khedira to Stay at Real Madrid till His Contract Expires
Real madrid have revealed that midfielder, Sami Khedira will remain at the Bernabeu this summer.
Khedira has been linked with a host of clubs since winning the World cup with Germany in Brazil, and Arsenal are said to be at the forefront among those known to have expressed an interest though Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked.
However, ahead of Real Madrid’s UEFA European Super Cup meeting with Sevilla this evening, manager Carlo Ancelotti has put a stop to speculation around the 27-year-old.
“He’s not leaving, he’s a Real Madrid player. He has a contract until June 30, 2015 and that’s all there is to say”, he said.
It had earlier been reported that Madrid were keen to off-load the player for about £24m before the transfer window closes rather than let him leave for free in 12 months time. The German’s wage demands – a fee in the region of £150,000-a-week – have however been cited as an obstacle to any move.
