Super Eagles Head coach, Stephen Keshi, has blamed the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for his inability to secure a new contract outside Nigeria.

According to the former Nigerian captain, the NFF scared away countries interested in him by telling them his contract with the NFF was still on though he has not finalised his contract discussion with the NFF leadership since the last World Cup in Brazil.

He said: “I have to return to the Super Eagles’ job because NFF frustrated my effort to secure a new job.

“They kept on telling other countries that my contract was still running.  With this kind of response, nobody wanted to have anything to do with me.”

He also said that Super Eagles players played a key role in persuading him to change his mind as they urged  him not to dump Nigeria for another country. He said that due to the respect he had for them, it was difficult for him to say no.
